I’ve been going to The Tote since my teenage years. Great folks behind the bar, loads of memorable gigs, never had any aggro there or met anyone who wasn’t there for a good time. And now, it’s closing. The licensee is unable to head off the idiots at VCAT, who class his pub as a dangerous nightclub style venue. This means they demand he pays high-risk fees which erode his ability to make any money.
