I’ve been going to The Tote since my teenage years. Great folks behind the bar, loads of memorable gigs, never had any aggro there or met anyone who wasn’t there for a good time. And now, it’s closing. The licensee is unable to head off the idiots at VCAT, who class his pub as a dangerous nightclub style venue. This means they demand he pays high-risk fees which erode his ability to make any money. This is your last chance to see a NMIT Greensborough Product Design/Jewellery Graduate show. Sadly, this Diploma course has been ‘retired’. Visual Arts at NMIT has already ceased offering sculpture and ceramics courses, and it looks like the economic rationalist monster is still on the prowl.
