Unnatural, Naturally Opening Night

Lauren and Melinda on show in our window!  It was such a treat to have both Melinda Young from Sydney and Lauren Simeoni from Adelaide arrive in Melbourne to install their exhibition. They stayed in town for three days to officially launch the exhibition on opening night and then run a workshop the following night. It was a busy three days! Their stunning installation and sold-out workshop were very well received, and the exhibition runs until Sat May 1st so please come along to see it for yourself. Their unique collaboration has seen them sharing a sketchbook, ideas and materials largely via post! Last thursday night HYPEMUCH attended the opening of Michael Steele‘s solo show “Accumulating”, which is being held at the always awesome exhibition space, Gorker Gallery. - Michael Steele’s latest “cluster” series is like an acid-induced-brain-explosion, where all your child hood memories flood back to your frontal lobe in an instant. Using iconic characters/stuff from video games, movies, commercials and everything in between, while all being executed using a huge variety of  mediums… there’s definitely a little bit of everything in this series. Just Got Home from The Opening of Nate Holmes Trapnell’s Second Solo Exhibition “The King Pin” at Gorker Gallery in fitzroy. The attention to detail in his art is utterly amazing and his imagination is pretty wild too. All ilustrated with Fine Liner’s. Running with a Rockabilly/Bowling Ally  Theme Through out the Exhibit, it’s Running through From November 12th till the 29th. On Tues Oct 13th we officially opened Justine Austen's new solo exhibition, Monster Zoo at Pieces of Eight Gallery. It was a great night with Justine giving an artist talk to an enthusiastic crowd of friends, family and clientele. The exhibition runs until Sat Nov 14th, make sure you don't miss out! Photos kindly taken by Jim Weatherill and Nick Deacon.  


An important notice: We were planning to run an artist floor talk tomorrow with our current exhibiting artist Djurdjica Kesic, however the date has changed to next Sat Oct 3rd at 4pm. On a late winter evening last week, Tuesday 18th August, we officially opened our current exhibition by Tessa Blazey. This exhibition launches her as our newly represented artist, and we are very excited to show her 'Fabrication' solo exhibition at Pieces of Eight. The work consists of wearables inspired by geometry and mineral structures. Read more about the exhibition in our last post and interview with Tessa.
