proper fast
Kimi Raikkonen is the 2007 F1 World Champion. I’ve been a fan since his days as a Sauber driver. I predicted that he would win this year’s title and after his brilliant and relatively easy win in Melbourne at the start of the season this seemed likely. Below is a photo I took of Kimi in Mebourne on his way to his debut win for Ferrari.
He could take on Fernando Alonso and win. He could be faster than rapidly improving teammate Felipe Massa. But then the Lewis Hamilton phenomenon appeared. The post-Schumacher era was never going to be dull, but no one expected the thrill of watching him to be so quickly forgotten or replaced.
In the commentary on the Brizailian GP qualifying session on Saturday (Kimi won the race on Sunday to secure the championship), British former driver Martin Brundle used a cute British expression to describe Kimi’s driving – ‘proper fast’. Indeed. According to Forbes, Kimi is paid US$40 million a year by Ferrari. A wise investment.
