value adding

Posted in Carlton, art on November 27th, 2007

I usually tune out visual stimuli I don’t care about or want to see, but something made me look at the poster of junkie, loser, bogan, insipid and baglady spice. Thanks whoever you are for the incredible value adding your brought to this with your graffiti; only now is the poster worth looking at!

thinking about China

Posted in Fitzroy, St David St, art on November 25th, 2007

Yesterday afternoon I caught the last day of a group exhibition at Area contemprtary art space on St David St (behind Wilkins and Kent). Various works references aspects of Chinese art, society and culture.

Below are three of the works that I was interested in. Unfortunately their website is not kept up to date. It does not contain details of the exhibition, and I did not bring a program home, so I cannot name the artists and their works. It’s a shame because I always try to reference art work properly, and link to artists websites when I can.
