Symonds chops the mutha down
What do Keith Richards and Andrew Symonds have in common? Well, Johnny Depp has not used Symonds as the basis for one of his film characters, so it’s not Symonds’ sartorial aesthetics and personality per se. It’s his attitude and sense of street justice. Just as Keef famously attacked a man who ran onstage during a 1981 US concert and “chopped the mutha down” with his guitar, so Symonds chopped down a streaker on the cricket field in Brisbane without even using his bat.

This is what Keef had to say about the annoying fan:
“You don’t come up here when I’m doing a gig. I gotta get you out of there as soon as possible, so I can carry on doing what I’m supposed to do. I mean, he may be a fan, but he might be a nutter and he’s on my turf. I’m gonna chop the mutha down.”
Here’s Keef in action in 1981 chopping his own mutha down.

Something similar is likely to be Symond’s thoughts on his own circumstances. If you invade my turf, I will chop you down. Street justice at its finest. Respect.
