Rudd is an idiot
The honeymoon is over. The Rudd Labor government has made its first obviously completely stupid policy decision. He wants to perpetuate the irrational and impractical policy of trying to eradicate opium poppy production in Afghanistan.
I’ve written twice previously about western opium hypocrisy and Afghan poverty and the consequences of stupid western policies about the world drug trade - we are the real terrorists. Given that this Age article states that “opium growing and trading is thought to account for half of Afghanistan’s gross domestic product“, the war on opium in Afghanistan is a war to enforce extreme poverty on every Afghan citizen. Every Australian citizen should be ashamed of their government for perpetuating this unnecessary poverty.
