About Fitzroyalty

Fitzroyalty - a hyperlocal blog about Melbourne’s first suburb: Fitzroy 3065 - began in May 2006. It is a local blog for local people; we'll have no shouting here!

It features posts on the suburb of Fitzroy in Melbourne, Australia, and reflections on life from a socially libertarian, economically socialist, culturally anarchistic and radically individualistic point of view.

Read the about and hyperlocal pages for more information.

Smith St Bazaar now open

fitzroy

I recently wrote about the then forthcoming opening of the new Smith St Bazaar. It has now opened and is actually the product of the expansion of the former 20th Century Pieces on Greeves St. The new premises next to Lure are much larger and will allow for an enormous amount of stock to be displayed. They had some wonderful pieces in stock already, and I hope they do well in their new location.

I’m glad you enjoyed your trip to the Bazaar - it is a great concept for the area.

Just a wee correction: the Smith Street Bazaar is a collective of over 15 different stall holders - owned by the previous owner of 20th Century Pieces & a co-owner.

As you can expect from a collective, there are all sorts in there… wander past the front window… vintage shipping trunks, a 60’s speedboat (!), bakelite objects, lamps/lightshades, danish design, italian design, vintage couture, accessories, art deco furniture, antiques, jewellery, murano glass. All vintage & all excellent.

And yes - I’m a stall holder. Shameless!
