dinner at the Rose hotel

Apart from Bimbo Deluxe, the Rose hotel is my traditional local. Can someone explain why it is called the Rose hotel when it is one street away from Rose St on the corner of Napier and Leicester streets? Despite its confusing location, the Rose is well known to locals for providing excellent hearty pub meals at bargain prices. On a cold winter evening when you’re lazy and don’t feel inspired to cook, it is the perfect alternative.

On a recent visit my girlfriend had the most enormous and delicious fish and chips, while I went for the gourmet special on the specials board – chargrilled kangaroo with celeriac mash and green beans with blueberry jus. We went home extremely satisfied.
