cake at Forks and Corks, Rutherglen

rutherglen

On a recent weekend trip to Rutherglen and Beechworth to indulge in the region’s excellent food and wine I had coffee and cake at Forks and Corks on Rutherglen’s main st called Main St. I’m not joking. The cake is not to be laughed at either. The pear, lemon and lime tart and the cherry baked cheesecake were both fabulous in flavour and presentation.

You should try Ripe Rutherglen Cafe at the Wine Experience building on the roundabout at the Melbourne end of Main Street. All the cakes there are made in the cafe and the coffee is seriously good. Forks and Corks used to say on their blackboard “the best coffee in town” a few weeks after Ripe Rutherglen Cafe opened the message changed to “possibly the best coffee in town”

Thanks! I’ll put it on my list of places to visit next time. I really like the north of Victoria and hope to be back soon.
