About Fitzroyalty

Fitzroyalty - hyperlocal news and reviews about Melbourne’s first suburb: Fitzroy 3065 - is a local news and reviews site for Fitzroy residents and visitors. Read the about and hyperlocal pages for more information.

It features stories on the suburb of Fitzroy in Melbourne, Australia, and reflections on life from a socially libertarian, economically socialist, culturally anarchistic and radically individualistic point of view.

"I hate almost everything you write yet I cannot look away. You’re better than [Andrew] Bolt." User comment.

A new market is being planned for Fitzroy and the founders are looking for stall holders. The aim is to provide a space for local artisans, performers and musicians to sell and / or strut their stuff, raise awareness and $$$ for local community groups, and create a place for Fitzroy to hang out on a Saturday morning.

  • WHERE: Fitzroy Primary School, Napier Street
  • WHEN: Every Saturday 10am – 3pm
  • HOW MUCH: $35 per stall per week

Calling all:

  • Clothing designers
  • Artists
  • Jewellery makers
  • Crafty types
  • Food & drink traders
  • Would-be garage sale holders

They’re also on the lookout for buskers, performers, musicians and DJs to get involved. Gold coin entry will go to community groups working with disadvantaged people in the Fitzroy / Collingwood community. The founders are working with local organisations such as:

  • Cultivating Communities
  • Ecumenical Migrant Centre
  • Fitzroy Learning Network

If you’re keen, or know anyone who might be, contact Fiona Newton or Louise Irving at fitzroymarket@hotmail.com.
