Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix – Formula BMW Pacific

The first race cars on track at the Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix were from the Formula BMW Pacific series (official site and wikipedia).

They are similar to Formula Ford and Formula Renault cars and are powered by 1200cc BMW motorcycle engines tuned to produce about 140bhp.

They’re very loud and sound fantastic and delivered some close and exciting racing.

I watched the first Friday practice session with about 5 other expert F1 fans who trekked through the mud produced by torrential rain on Friday morning to the eastern part of the track under the freeway to find turns 20 and 21.
