Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix – the track and paddock during the day

The track and paddock at the Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix were designed to be at their best at night. During the day they did not look so special, but there was plenty to see if you made an effort to explore.

Once Friday morning’s heavy rain ended, these flag marshalls had to wave every flag to get the water out of them.

You never see this in Australia, where the pit complex and spectator areas are very separate, but in Singapore the team staff were staying in hotels adjacent to or even within the grounds of the circuit, so you’d see them walking from the western side where most of the hotels are to the eastern end where the pit complex is every day.

Although not as majestic as it appears at night, the The Civilian War Memorial in the Central Area is still impressive.

On Friday the Padang area was almost deserted but the Supreme Court building is fantastic – from some angles you can’t see the more conventional lower part and this makes the circular top part look like a space ship coming in to land.
