I’m the dandy highwayman who you’re too scared to mention

This is another wonderful work I have previously featured, but it deserves another post. This version is at the back of the Centre for Contemporary Photography on Kerr St near the Gorker gallery. There’s another on Gore St between Rose St and Leicester St near the Eleventh Hour theatre. The artist is Rone (website, wikipedia and Age article).

I think I love it because it makes me think of my first favourite band, Adam and the Ants, whose third album Prince Charming (1981) was the first I bought with my own money (the Rockwiz quiz). I was nine. It’s a perfect blend of post punk agro with new romanticism melodies and some world music thrown in. Seriously. I still listen to it.

The single Stand and Deliver has one of the best music videos of the era.
