On Tuesday 25 November I went to the opening night of the Acorn exhibition at the Wardlow gallery and artist residence on Wood St. The works range from postcard sized illustrations on paper through to large murals. Acorn has a distinctive aesthetic and I found the work fascinating because, like the work of Ghostpatrol, it contains a universe of unique characters with strong personalities.
I was hoping to have some time to talk to owner Brodie, who I have emailed with for a while now and for who I ran a previous story on Wardlow, but the heavy cigarette smoke from all the cool kids was intolerable and I had to leave. Since the smoking venue ban I have have been going to pubs more than I have for years, and I had forgotten how foul it is to be trapped in a room full of poison.
