1 Pure Scenius – Brian Eno, Karl Hyde and the Necks at the Sydney Opera House
Brian Eno was the best gig I saw this year – a fascinating and thrilling performance, with the additional status of being a rare and longheld ambition fulfilled.

Rone’s current Rose St wall paste-up has not lasted as well or for as long as his previous work on the same space. I remember reading about the glue paste-up artists use on Drab‘s blog, and wonder if Rone’s recipe was not right on this occasion? It’s a shame because this work on Rose St was perhaps the best yet, with each print receiving an additional handpainted element, making each sheet unique and the entire wall more complex and visually appealing.…
I have to interrupt my series of summer holiday reviews to discuss some breaking news. The Fitzroy based Abby Winters porn site is in trouble again. The bogan press journalist, who has been pursuing a vendetta against it since 2007, reported yesterday that G Media CEO Garion Hall has been charged with numerous offences including ‘making objectionable films for gain’. For the background to this story read my December 2007 and June 2009 posts.

While in Perth I had lunch with a friend who works in Perth’s cultural precinct, where the state library, museum and art gallery are located. It carries many different varieties, so those of us sick of generic shiraz and cabernet sauvignon can find Australian and imported monastrell, barbera and other delights. While the selection at Piedimontes is way above average for a supermarket, if you want something more distinctive Blackhearts and Sparrows on Scotchmer St is the place to go.…
While out with friends in Perth I enjoyed excellent food and drink at Mela Indian restaurant on William St. From the top down: the restaurant interior, mango lasee and kheema (spiced minced lamb) dosa.

By chance I discovered one of my images being used without my consent on a Mess and Noise forum (update: as of 27 December 2009 this forum topic has been removed). It had been taken from my review of Court Jester cafe in Brunswick. I posted a comment in the forum asking for it to be removed or for the source it was taken from (if not my site) could be identified.
The person who posted it responded by indicating that the trail led to a Gumtree advertisement for warehouse space to rent in the building housing Court Jester.…
