I’ve been meaning to replace my motorcycle for my relatively short commute to work. I used to walk to a previous job but it’s further to my current one and it would take too long, and cut into my sleeping time! Unfortunately bicycles have been stolen from the carpark of my apartment building and I was hesitant about buying something new and shiny that someone may want to steal. I wanted something scruffy and second hand that looks unassuming and not worth stealing.…
Happy does some great paste-ups and this is one of my favourites.

A trad jazz band called Virus has been playing every Saturday afternoon 4.00pm-7.00pm at the Laundry bar on Johnston St since 2001. I used to go a lot about five years ago and then stopped. I recently went back and it was as good as ever. Entry is free with donations to the band encouraged via a big kettle they carry around during breaks. I noticed these two photo based pasteups appeared on Leicester St in early January. The one with sunglasses is frustratingly familiar but I can’t place it – could it be based on a photo of the actress Amira Casar?

Sam Simmons (below) has been wanked a lot… or so he claims. The topic of the optional extra happy ending at massage parlours in Thailand was a recurring theme at A mic in hand on 22 January, where Simmons debuted new material in an occasionally VERY funny but also disjointed performance. My own performance was not perfect either. Note to self: move beer out of frame before taking photo.

Phibs’ work outside Grilld on the corner of Kerr St and Brunswick St recently got trashed. I would not mind if it was replaced by something equally good, but this mess is disappointing.
