I had dinner at De Los Santos, a Spanish restaurant on Brunswick St that receives mostly positive reviews, for the first time in about two years recently, and it was as good as I remembered. Last time was to entertain visiting friends from Sydney; this time was solo before going next door to listen to the Andrea Keller quartet at the Uptown jazz cafe.

I ordered two tapas plates – sardines and croquettes. The sardines were large, plump and delicious with pine nuts, currents, onion and lemon. The croquettes contained spinach and cheese and were served with the most amazing capsicum sauce. I could eat dozens!

The interior is warm and inviting with two sections – the front bar area contains stools at the bar and front window, and a few tables. The larger rear area contains tables of various sizes and is perfect for larger groups.
