The Last Tuesday Society at Yah Yahs
A riot of fun is how I must describe my first time at the Last Tuesday Society, a theatre, music and comedy review show that had its first performance at Yah Yahs on 24 February. I’d been meaning to go for a while – it used to be held at the Old Bar, but it outgrew that venue and on its first night at Yah Yahs it easily filled the much larger space. Much of what happened is beyond explanation and some is beyond understanding, but it was all fantastic.
For $10 it is, like the comedy at A mic in hand, a live entertainment bargain that I will go to again. The performers are rehearsing comedy festival shows at the moment so the next Last Tuesday Society show will not be until after the festival.
The Bedroom Philosopher was a highlight for me with his songs about life on the 86 tram (which runs along Smith St outside Yah Yahs).
Anothe hilarious performance was given by Last Tuesday Society founder Bron, who plays a Panda porn actress. As a result of being in captivity, Pandas’ natural drives have been disturbed and they need assistance, so zoos show videos of Pandas mating to encourage them. The joke here is that the videos are of humans pretending to be Pandas. This poor actress does not even make the grade in human porn so she has to do animal porn, and the highlight of her career is ‘Hot Panda Pussy 12′.
