‘Jesus the Arrogant – an indie rock musical’ opens tonight at the (Newtown) Workers Club

I spotted this last night as I walked by. ‘Jesus the Arrogant – an indie rock musical’ opens tonight at the (Newtown) Workers Club on the corner of Brunswick St and Gertrude St. It amuses me to note that the venue is now being described as the ‘Workers Club’ without ‘Newtown’, although the signage has not been changed. The decision to name the venue the ‘Newtown Workers Club’ did not work as it confused people who knew the Newtown name because of the Newtown Social Club cafe.

Thanks for the extra plug for our show ( which finishes tonight ). The removal of the ” Newtown ” from the venue name was actually an error on the poster designer’s part, and not any form of request from the venue owners.

    Cheers!

Thanks for that – I had heard that they were planning to drop the ‘Newtown’ but had not yet made a new sign. Hope the show is going well!
