dinner at the London Tavern on Lennox St
It’s been a while between visits to the London Tavern on Lennox St in Richmond, but a group of my friends have an occasional pub dinner there on Wednesdays. Most choose the excellent steak sandwich but two of us opted for something fancier – a very tender and satisfying beef bourguignon and delicious Atlantic salmon. The staff are friendly, the food and drinks are good and it’s a very relaxing place to be.

If there’s one thing the staff aren’t, it’s friendly. We went there every Friday for lunch for 3 years and got nothing but rude, dismissive service. Never once a smile – they were always a thousan miles away when you talked to them.
Now the Railway Hotel in Windsor is our new local, and they are fantastic. They know us, and reserve us a table every week without even asking, and every week we get freebies – chips, bread or even deserts for everyone. You won’t get that at The London.

Maybe the day shift is unfriendly and the night shift has all the nice people?
