This is another amusing case study in how not to do social media. Melbourne events listing site OnlyMelbourne is active on Twitter. Very active. A week or so ago they spammed a link to a spammy site over and over again. A few people complained. Instead of recognising that they were annoying their audience, stopping and apologising, OnlyMelbourne rejected their audience by blocking the people who complained. That’s what I call a lesson in social media fail 101.

I criticised OnlyMelbourne previously for the way they described Fitzroyalty. The screenshot below contains a quote from me and their response. At least they admitted they were wrong. OnlyMelbourne is published by Ripefruit. All I can say is that their ideas about effective and attractive social media are very different to mine.
