About Fitzroyalty

Fitzroyalty - hyperlocal news and reviews about Melbourne’s first suburb: Fitzroy 3065 - is a local news and reviews site for Fitzroy residents and visitors. Read the about and hyperlocal pages for more information.

It features stories on the suburb of Fitzroy in Melbourne, Australia, and reflections on life from a socially libertarian, economically socialist, culturally anarchistic and radically individualistic point of view.

"I hate almost everything you write yet I cannot look away. You’re better than [Andrew] Bolt." User comment.

volunteer to become a Community Justice Advisory Group member

The following is adapted from copy supplied by the Neighbourhood Justice Centre in Collingwood, which is seeking expressions of interest from residents of the City of Yarra interested in joining their Community Justice Advisory Group.

collingwood

The Neighbourhood Justice Centre is the first of its kind in Australia. It brings together a multi-jurisdictional court with a wide array of onsite support services and community initiatives aimed at tackling the underlying causes of criminal behaviour and disadvantage, reducing crime and improving the wellbeing of the community.

One of the ways that the NJC works is through the Community Justice Advisory Group (CJAG). CJAG is a group of representatives drawn from community residents, traders, police, council and government. They form a link between the City of Yarra community and the NJC.

The CJAG meets monthly. New members will receive a thorough induction. Selection will be based on an understanding of local justice issues; knowledge of the local community; and ensuring that membership reflects the diversity of Yarra. Applicants may be required to attend an interview.

Refer to their website for more information or call 9948 8724 to have an information pack sent out to you. Applications close on Monday 16 November 2009 at 9am.
