Fitzroy history – the corner of Johnston and Smith streets
This postcard image c1911 shows the Birmingham hotel on the left corner and the modest scale of Johnston St at the time. The view is from the eastern side of Johnston St facing west towards the intersection of Smith St and Johnston St. A comparison with the view from the same location today shows a much denser urban landscape.
