Fitzroy history – Wood v Roy

I’m not interested in football so, apart from sarcasm, it is not a topic you’ll read about here. I’m making an exception for this charming postcard c1906 depicting a game between Fitzroy and Collingwood. I’m not sure why the Collingwood players have moustaches while the Fitzroy players are clean shaven – is it a subtle signifier of identity?
