Fitzroyalty - hyperlocal news and reviews about Melbourne’s first suburb: Fitzroy 3065 - is a local news and reviews site for Fitzroy residents and visitors. Read the about and hyperlocal pages for more information.

It features stories on the suburb of Fitzroy in Melbourne, Australia, and reflections on life from a socially libertarian, economically socialist, culturally anarchistic and radically individualistic point of view.

breakfast at Las Chicas, Carlisle St Balaclava

On a rare visit southside recently I chose a cafe for breakfast based entirely on reviews. It’s a fun thing to do – to see whether a place that has many good reviews delivers a good experience. As possibly the last white person in Melbourne to have breakfast at Las Chicas on Carlisle St Balaclava I was extremely pleased to have a fantastic breakfast and to have confirmed that all the reviews I had read were accurate and helpful.

My friend and I were impressed with the coffee and with our meals – scrambled eggs with spinach and pesto for me and bacon and egg bagel for her.

The reviews I read were written by the Breakfast blog, Let me eat now, Greg’s brunch wrap, Doublecooked, Melbourne cafe reviews, Delishaz and Where’s the beef? Thanks for your recommendations!
