Sadly the cute little Japanese noodle shop Happy Kappa on Brunswick St has closed. I liked it but its location in the unloved northern section of Brunswick St is difficult for a food business to succeed in – it does not get a lot of passing traffic in the evening compared to a few blocks further south. Its replacement is the green / vegetarian / vegan / organic / raw Yong, which will open soon.

I reckon I’ve seen about 5 different businesses come and go from that particular shop in as many years (flame grillaz was my fave). I wish Yong all the best.

Hopefully there are enough veg people in the hood to keep this one going.

I would think so, and some variety from the Vegie bar would please a lot of people. But the location complicates things – new places need passing traffic and random discovery from new customers to succeed, and I am not sure it is the right place for it.
