About Fitzroyalty

Fitzroyalty - hyperlocal news and reviews about Melbourne’s first suburb: Fitzroy 3065 - is a local news and reviews site for Fitzroy residents and visitors. Read the about and hyperlocal pages for more information.

It features stories on the suburb of Fitzroy in Melbourne, Australia, and reflections on life from a socially libertarian, economically socialist, culturally anarchistic and radically individualistic point of view.

"I hate almost everything you write yet I cannot look away. You’re better than [Andrew] Bolt." User comment.

summer holidays – Helvetica bar, Perth

Helvetica bar has a very Melbourne setup – located in a laneway off a laneway with no signage. But the atmosphere is lacking. The drinks were fine, but the beige and blue interior coordinated too closely with the attire of the clientele. It was rather blokely when I was there and there was no vibe, no intimacy. As with the pre-Christmas crowd at Andaluz, I could not tell whether its usual audience was in attendance or not. Its website and menu are over designed. Not really my kind of place.
