I recently enjoyed a lovely weekend at the small south Gippsland town of Port Albert. I had dinner at Wildfish seafood restaurant and explored the region, visiting other south Gippsland towns like Koonwarra, Fish Creek, Yarram, Meeniyan and Inverloch. Below – boats in the Port Albert harbour.

I love the intense colours of the marine environment.

Rodondo bed and breakfast is a great place to stay in Port Albert. We had a room with a king sized bed on the first floor of the new building in the back yard (below). The rooms here are all new, with large showers, flat screen TVs, a radio / CD player, bar fridge and tea and coffee making facilities.

Our room was in the building below, as seen from the garden of the Maritime Museum next door. Owner Susan includes lovely personal touches to the rooms, such as wonderful soap – it’s handmade from Gembrook in Victoria.

The view from the balcony overlooking the Maritime Museum and the harbour. Susan also makes sensational breakfasts – there’s fresh fruit and cereal, homemade freshly squeezed fruit juice, homemade muffins, and toast, eggs, bacon and tomato in any combination you like.

The Maritime Museum.

Opportunity awaits the next city person seeking a seachange.

Beautiful sunsets from the edge of the wharf opposite Wildfish.
