coffee at the Corner Store cafe, North Fitzroy
The Corner Store cafe used to be another of my regular haunts years ago. I believe it has had a relatively recent change of ownership, but the coffee is still good. It’s a fine place to sit sipping coffee watching the northroyalty walking past. The gen Yness of the staff was a minor cause for concern however. I ordered my coffee, sat, it was brought to me and I drank it. When I got up and went to the counter to pay I was asked what I wanted. I’d already been forgotten, and it was hardly busy. Hmmm…

Say it isn’t so. The bread there has always been disappointingly mass-produced, but I went there for the women who ran it, who felt like loving aunties (even though I am Chinese).
