London holiday – a day in Greenwich
I had a most enjoyable day taking a ferry to Greenwich with an old Melbourne friend, now resident in London, and spending the day walking through the park to the Royal Observatory to learn about the mechanisation of time, the solutions to the problem of calculating longitude and the development of astronomical observation. Greenwich is a fascinating place and the hour long ferry ride from Westminster gives you a helpful London geography lesson along the way.
