lunch at Es Teler 77, Cardigan St Carlton

I’ve walked past Es Teler 77 on Swanston St many times without entering, but lunch at the quieter branch on Cardigan St in Carlton was more inviting. I chose the nasi goreng kampung (hot and spicy) and it’s about what you would expect for $8.50. While neither the cheapest or best under $10 lunch within a few minutes walk from work, it’s good enough that I will probably be back to try something else again soon.

In looking for other reviews of various Asian cafes, I’m impressed by the reviews written by international students living in Melbourne, as they are in the best position to judge the quality and authenticity of the food far better than me. Fish sans water likes Es Teler and that’s good enough for me.

  1. Swanston St one is super close to my workplace, but I’ve never been there. Carlton does a superb nasi goreng with salted fish and petai…the spiced lamb/mutton one is also delicious!
