I find these historical photos of the pre-tram, pre-car era of Melbourne so enjoyable to look at. This is the corner of Gertrude St and Brunswick St c1866. I had guessed that the little cream coloured section on the first floor of the corner building was a later addition, so it is fascinating to see it was actually an original feature of the building. The National Trust has more information about this row of houses.
