The recent opening of fashion shop Neuw has inspired this post, as I had already found a historical photo of their premises on Smith St (on the corner of Webb St), which was originally constructed in 1887 as the Union bank. Neuw has featured in Style Melbourne, Broadsheet and Fashion rebel. Here’s another view of the former Union bank building.

I was glad to see something in this building finally, it has been so shabby for so long, which is a shame as it is one of the grander buildings on Smith St.

It’s only a pop up store and will be gone in a few weeks. Hopefully
Something else moves in.

I remember that it was once the premises of the local TAB before it moved across the road.
