When you work in marketing, as I do, it’s easy to see marketing strategies in online communications that may not be so obvious to the average social media user. This example appeared on Twitter last week. The victim is Rust bar on Brunswick St. The perpetrator is some unknown marketing agency that posted two tweets from stooge accounts that linked to a terrible paid article that no one with the vaguest sense of what is authentic in online media would believe.
Rust should seek a refund if they commissioned this campaign. You can tell that it was written by a barely literate PR goon by the characteristic Total Overuse Of Capital Letters. It’s almost as bad as real estate writing. It’s a social media marketing fail.
