A friend of mine holds a senior management position in a large insurance company. She recently applied for a mortgage to buy a house, and wanted income protection insurance. She applied to Suncorp for the insurance because she has banked with them for over 15 years and they provide her current and previous mortgages. She was declined cover because she disclosed that she was seeking treatment for a recent episode of depression.
Her depression is relatively minor and has not caused her to be absent from work.…
I claim this as another victory: the street artist stalker sweaty has pulled all the previous content from its site (including its extortion attempt pictured below) and started over with a new theme (just as I suggested) and new content. Apart from the same poor spelling and grammar it now states that it will be turned into a private site, which means that viewing it will be by invite only. sweaty has been effectively starved of attention and it can rant to itself as much as it wants.…
When the Atherton Gardens carpark on Brunswick was closed and fenced off it became clear that work was soon to commence on the new public housing project that had received planning approval last year. The Fitzroy Outdoor Cinema aims to open up a little crack in the invisible wall that separates the rest of Fitzroy from the Atherton Gardens public housing estate. In 2010 the inaugural cinema was a great success, with over 350 Fitzroy residents and guests sharing an evening of entertainment under the stars. It returns in 2011, and Fitzroy’s Atherton oval will again be illuminated by film, music, fashion and food on Saturday 26 February from 6pm.…
This 1905 photo shows the impressive Aberdeen hotel on the corner of St George’s Rd and Holden St in North Fitzroy. In 1895 someone broke in and stole whiskey, brandy, schnapps and 2000 cigars! Must have been a posh place. It’s now mostly apartments.
