The Buck’s Head hotel was diagonally opposite the Fitzroy Town Hall. The building remains and is now a private residence, but for a while in between it was a corner shop.

Sometime after its original construction it obtained some additional ornamentation that remains today. Taken from the diagonally opposite angle, the photo below (full image and then detail) shows it in its 1960s milk bar era.

  1. What’s the big building with the chimney where the childcare centre is now?

  2. Thanks – I looked at the link – it says Timber Merchant on the building! That would be handy – wish it was still there…! But the child care centre was pretty handy when my son was a baby :-)
