Late last year I enjoyed a very good dinner at the then newly opened Watermarc in Wangaratta, which competes with Rinaldo’s as the smartest restaurant in town. This time was even better than last time – the service was more consistent and the food was again very impressive. I loved my entree of rabbit rillette with pickles (bottom photo).

My main of a rich chicken braise with mash underneath was moreish and is served with a fennel and white anchovy salad. I also had a lovely glass of pinot noir but no dessert this time – the meal was very filling. I was chatting with colleagues I don’t know well who were on the next table, and I have forgotten where the wine was from. Unfortunately Watermarc’s website is still a ‘coming soon’ splash page. Not good for attracting tourists. But Watermarc is not alone in this marketing faux pas – it is all too common.

Disclosure: this meal was paid for by my employer.

This looks yummy! I think rabbit rillette with pickles is more of my style. Totally mouth-watering!
