Fitzroy history – from petrol station to university campus

This 1986 photo shows the site at approximately 8 Brunswick St, which was once the site of a house built in 1884 for a Dr Heffernan, who lived and practiced there. The house was demolished in 1956 and for some time it was a petrol station. It is now being built on to expand the Australian Catholic University’s campus.
