A small new cafe called Juddy Roller (Facebook) opened last week on Chapel St near the corner of Johnston St. It’s similar to Tiny in Collingwood in being located in a corridor under a staircase but different in that it features art by Sydney street artist Ears (web and Flickr) on the walls rather than an intense yellow glow. The cafe is named after a relatively recently deceased local musician.

Firstly, I’m very impressed with the coffee. Strong, smooth, no bitterness. Just right.

Second, the guys making the coffee and the breakfast are nice and friendly.

And third, while they finish preparing the cafe (baked eggs are coming soon) they make a very tasty croque monsieur.

Already reviewed by Jade, Juddy Roller has the essence of a great Fitzroy cafe.

Coffee is awesome. Bircher yummy and muffins moist. Sean the man behind the machine is friendly AND he makes great coffee! A rare combination in Fitzroy I reckon…
