I’ve already done some individual reviews of meals at UK restaurants, but I’ll summarise the best of the rest in meal posts starting with breakfast. The French farmhouse breakfast at La Fromagerie in swish Marylebone consists of yogurt, cheese, meat and bread. The cheese is divine.

The sausage and egg bap from Kitchen and Pantry in Notting Hill was tasty.

The chorizo, egg and cheese grilled bagel from Haminados in Notting Hill was amazing.

Smoked haddock eggs benedict at the charming basement cafe Urban Angel in Edinburgh.

Smoked salmon bagel from Beigel Bake on Brick Lane in Shoreditch. It’s open 24 hours a day.

Wonderful scrambled eggs with bacon and perhaps the best sausage I have ever eaten from the Clerkenwell Kitchen.

I have emptied these countries of pork and smoked fish products – it is time to move on…

What no black pudding, no white pudding, fried bread? And please please try to find a place with some jellied eels, in a pie or otherwise.

Good to hear the bagel shop is still there – when I lived in London in the early ’90s I would always grab a cream cheese, tomato and cucumber bagel for 45p when hitting the Brick Lane markets. Ah, good times.
