The former Bala’s space on Brunswick St is being renovated by a new tenant. Some of the window is covered by random newspaper, but some is covered with repetitions of ‘Latin Passion’ posters. Is this a sign that Cruzao is going to get a new competitor?

Has anyone had a chance to check this place out? I wandered past on Friday night and it was deserted. I’ve only found a single one-sentence review, which was positive if perfunctory, but the place doesn’t even have an entry in Urbanspoon or Tripadvisor.

Not me. The branding of the restaurant is amateurish and terrible, and the online marketing is non-existent. To me it looks unprofessional and this suggests (like Cruzao) that the service may be unprofessional too.
I feel sorry for them but they don’t seem to know what they are doing. It looks closed even when it is open, you can’t hear music coming out to create some atmosphere and they don’t have an A frame sign or anything on the street to draw attention to themselves.
Finally, having been to the US earlier this year and eaten at places like this, the drinks in the US are so cheap and the drinks at this place seem too expensive.
