Gorker Gallery has closed

I emailed Gorker Gallery a couple of weeks ago asking if they were still operating, as from what I have seen the gallery has been defunct for nearly a year. I’ve received no response. Their signs have been removed from the wall and when I walked past recently the only remnant was a few painted branches used to decorate a previous exhibition that had been dumped outside.

I was talking not so long ago with a local acquaintance about the quality of some Fitzroy cafes that have changed ownership, and whether they are as good as they used to be. I thought the quality of the coffee at Newtown SC declined after Cate sold up. He replied by questioning whether Ici was still awesome after its rumoured change of owners in 2010, and I said I have not been there for some time.…

landlord scum and government cowards

I wasn’t aware of this story until it was in the Age, but for years I’ve wondered how the owner of the cars and trucks abandoned around Fitzroy and Kerr streets could get away with using public streets for his private dump. Now it seems he is also a landlord from hell. I wish I’d heard about the protest and picket – I would have participated. It’s good to hear that it was successful.…
