Pop Up Scroll have a 6 month lease on the former Chinese medicine shop on Smith St next to Monsieur Truffe. They have a sparse but cute retro interior and a variety of artisanal pastries to consume. They also dabble in hipster hyperbole in that they describe themselves as a ‘scroll boutique’.…

does the Smith St traders association have an online future?

I’ve written previously about the repeated abominations created when the Smith St business or traders association tries to create an online presence. A previous incarnation wasted thousands of dollars or ratepayers’ money and achieved nothing but embarrassment. The current ‘endorsed’ outsourced site, Smith Street Life, has long since been abandoned by its commercial developers and, as its year of endorsement by the association is almost up while it has obviously not achieved its objective of becoming a viable business (with business clients paying for its marketing services), it will presumably be deleted.…
