A Ghostpatrol paste-up on Little Smith St. Possibly one slightly affected by Expressionism. It reminds me of the cover photograph of Iggy Pop’s album The Idiot, designed by himself and David Bowie based on ‘Roquairol‘ by Erich Heckel (as was the cover to Bowie’s “Heroes”).

On the opening night of the Gertrude St projection festival I saw Mr Ghostpatrol out with friends enjoying the video art. Later, walking home on Smith St, I saw a group of people huddled against a wall then suddenly walk away towards me. Mr Ghostpatrol and Mr Fitroyalty passed each other with the merest hint of mutual recognition eye contact and I stopped to look at the paste-up the group had just put on the wall – two small citrus and cheese characters with glue glistening wet in the stark street light.…

A new collaborative exhibition featuring the work of Ghostpatrol and Cat Rabbit opens tonight at the Gorker gallery. I was lucky to be invited to the VIP preview of ‘While You Sleep’ last night, and I’d like to thank marketing director Lauren for the invite and co-owner Nathan for his time in discussing the gallery. The work, particularly that of Cat Rabbit, is stupendous in its technical achievement and remarkable in its emotional power.
