As the first Grand Prix I have attended outside of Australia, there were many strange, exciting and wonderful sights to see in the paddock as well as on the track in Singapore. The following images are a sample of the things I saw that did not fit in to any other story I have written about the race. I’ve file this image under ‘you don’t see that in Australia’. Not unless you rename it the ‘pray to end Mark Webber’s bad luck tent’.…

Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix – things to improve
Attending the 2008 Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix was a highlight of the year for me. The race, the track, the food and the entertainment provided by the city were all fabulous. I do have some criticisms, and in this post I will cover them in detail. When considering the circumstances of the race I try to keep in mind that despite its wealth, Singapore is still partially a developing country. My purpose is not the trash an event that I loved but to help make it better for next year.…
Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix – the track and paddock during the day
The track and paddock at the Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix were designed to be at their best at night. During the day they did not look so special, but there was plenty to see if you made an effort to explore.

Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix – the track at night
The lighting system used for the first time to allow a Formula 1 Grand Prix to be held at night was a triumph. The track was brightly lit and caused no problems for the drivers. It also looked amazing for spectators at the track and on television. I will remember this experience for a long time.

Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix – Aston Martin Asia Cup

The Aston Marting Asia Cup support category at the Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix was fun to watch mainly because the cars sound so spectacular, something like the sound of the approach of the apocalyse I imagine.…

Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix – the track and paddock at dusk

Dusk was perhaps the most beautiful time in the paddock and on the track at the Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix. The track lights had been on since the early afternoon to warm up to full power and as the natural light declined and the sun set behind the city buildings the artificial light began to make everything look magical.…
